Language and Culture Seminars


ARABIC
A Taste of Arabic. This seminar offers an introduction to the Arabic language and culture. Participants will be offered the opportunity to sample ethnic dishes.

CHINESE
Chinese Language and Culture. This seminar offers an introduction to Chinese language and culture. Visual materials will be included, and participants will explore the structure of the Chinese language.

FRENCH
Bon Voyage. An introduction to French-speaking countries, their cultures and their language. Specific customs will be discussed as well as the corresponding expressions.

GERMAN
Potsdam, Germany. United Nations World Cultural Heritage Site and Sioux Falls Sister City. Get to know the place and the people through first-hand accounts.

SPANISH
Wine Tasting "Made in Spain". An Introduction to wine tasting and how to use your senses to evaluate a wine, with a focus on Spanish wine. Useful Spanish phrases and expressions will be introduced.  The cost of the the seminar includes 5 different quality wines and small Spanish tapa.

Language Courses


CHINESE
Introductory Mandarin Chinese. An introduction to the basic Chinese pronunciation system (Pinyin). Writing characters and alphabets for pronunciation will be included. Everyday Chinese will be emphasized.
