Dr. Isaacson is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Augustana College, Department of Nursing. She has 30 years of clinical expertise in adult and child health medical-surgical nursing. She teaches in the undergraduate nursing programs and leads cultural immersion experiences to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Dr. Isaacson obtained her PhD in Nursing from Indiana University School of Nursing, Indianapolis. Her major focus area is in Health Systems, with a minor in anthropology (American Indian Studies emphasis). Through her doctoral work, Dr. Isaacson has come to greater appreciate the complexity of culture, its impact on decision-making in the adolescent and the need to better prepare health care providers in culturally sensitive care-giving.
