Credit Hour Definition

Augustana College is on the semester hour system.  Students must complete 130 credit hours to earn a baccalaureate degree.  A full-time course load is 12-16 credit hours.  A credit hour is typically defined by one hour per week of in class instruction, plus another two hours of study outside of class for 15 weeks. 

Exceptions to this definition include studio courses, clincial experiences, directed research, internships and practicums, and other experiences faculty offer to students outside of the normal laboratory or classroom setting.
