Technical Director and Resident Designer
Robert Fitzsimmons is an administrator in the theatre department, where he teaches Stage Craft, Scenography, Drafting, Rendering and Stage Management. Robert has worked for the Brevard Music Center in North Carolina, Jenny Wiley Theatre in Kentucky, and the Arundel Barn Playhouse in Maine. Recently he has worked on local productions for the USD Playhouse and Bare Bodkins Theatre Company. Robert currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the Orpheum Theater Advisory Board of Directors.
Robert has a B.F.A. in Technical Theatre and Design from Western Kentucky University.
Recently, Jayna has worked artistically with Southwest Minnesota State University Theatre, Sioux Falls Home School Association, and Accidental Genius Productions. She also teaches Shakespeare classes at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
Jayna has a B.A. in theatre arts from Southwest Minnesota State University, and an M.A. in theatre (emphases in acting, directing, theatre history, and Elizabethan and Jacobean drama) from the University of South Dakota.
Adjunct Instructor, Theatre
Jennifer Shouse-Klassen teaches classes in costuming fundamentals in addition to mentoring students in costume design and construction. She has designed and built costumes for Bare Bodkins, The Barn Theatre, the University of South Dakota and Highland Summer Theatre. She holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Southwest Minnesota State University, and an M.F.A. in costume design from the University of South Dakota.
Assistant Professor, Theatre
Dan Workman is an assistant professor in the theatre department, where he teaches Directing, Acting, Script Analysis and Introduction to Theatre. Dan is the Artistic Director of the Children's Theatre Company of South Dakota, an outreach of the Black Hills Playhouse. Dan has also spent several summers at the Black Hills Playhouse as an actor, director, and a couple of seasons as the Artistic Director.
Dan has a B.F.A. in Theatre Performance from Tarkio College, and an M.F.A. in Theatre Direction from the University of South Dakota. He has taught at Morningside College, the University of South Dakota, and University Center.
