We provide ...
Undergraduate research opportunities that provide a rigorous and challenging academic experience which enhances applications for graduate and professional school.
"In the last year a number of our students have been co-authors in four different peer-reviewed research journals in biology and physics. In the last five years, 70 of our graduates have gone on to medical school, 26 have gone on for Ph.D.s and three have entered M.D.-Ph.D. programs. These success stories come about because we attract bright, talented students — and dedicated faculty provide a rich learning environment both in and out of the classroom."

Associate Academic Dean
Students who have been involved in undergraduate research receive a value-added academic experience that dramatically improves their chances for admission to graduate and professional school. As a result, nearly every student who participates in summer science research activities at Augustana and desires to pursue graduate and professional school obtains admission. Since the summer of 2006, the College has averaged more than 55 students per summer who have been active in summer research initiatives. During summer of 2011, a record 85 students participated in research activities.
With Sioux Falls’ emerging reputation as a biomedical research center through Hematech, plus the infusion of new research activity at Sanford Health, along with Avera Research and the Veterans Administration Hospital, there are unlimited opportunities for students to engage in the latest research activities.
Students exhibit their research and scholarly work through annual poster presentations in Gilbert Science Center and the Augustana Symposium.
