According to federal law, an institution may withhold any of the required fields of entry, i.e. the nature, date, time, location and/or disposition if any of the following conditions apply:

  • The disclosure is prohibited by law
  • If the disclosure would jeopardize the confidentiality of the victim
  • If disclosure would jeopardize an ongoing criminal investigation or the safety of an individual
  • If disclosure would cause a suspect to flee or evade detection
  • If disclosure would result in the destruction of evidence

  • 8:40 AM - Elmen Center, 2505 S. Grange Avenue.  Hit & Run MVA, Non Injury.  Campus Safety Officer was contacted by a student and reported that their vehicle had been damaged.  Officer responded and was advised by the victim that the vehicle and driver of the other vehicle involved was not present when they returned to their car.  Officer recorded victim information and advised victim to contact Sioux Falls Police to conduct further investigation.  Incident report completed.

  • 8:10 PM - Solber Hall, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Motor Vehicle Accident.  A student contacted the Office of Campus Safety by phone and reported that they had struck a parked car in the Solberg parking lot.  Officer responded and recorded vehicle information and located the owner of the parked car.  SFPD responded and issued a damage report.  Incident report completed.
  • 10:50 PM - Stavig Hall, 2008 S. Walts Avenue.  Narcotics Violation / Drug Violation.  Campus Safety Dispatch received a phone report of a strong odor of Marijuana present in the hall.  Officers responded and identified the source of the odor.  Suspects identified.  Incident report completed and forwarded to University authorities.

  • 7:03 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2334 S. Duluth Avenue.  Stolen Bike.  A student presented to the Office of Campus Safety and reported that their bike had been stolen from their residence.  Incident report completed.

Monday, September 12, 2016

  • 9:25 PM - Granskou Hall, 2009 S. Prairie Avenue.  Inappropriate Behavior.  Three students presented to the Office of Campus Safety and reported that a student residing in Granskou Hall was acting inappropriate in certain areas of Granskou Hall.  The subject was identified.  Officers made contact with the subject at Granskou Hall.  The subject was interviewed and counseled.  Incident Report completed and forwarded to University authorities.

  • 5:00 PM - 31st Street intersection of Summit Avenue.  Simple Assault.  Two students approached Officers and reported that a vehicle occupied by several male subjects had approached them and the subjects began throwing water balloons at the students.  Several balloons struck the students.  Incident report completed.

Saturday, September 10, 2016

  • 2:04 AM - 1906 S. Menlo Avenue.  Drunkenness.  Officers were dispatched to a private residence to check on the wellbeing of a student that lived off campus.  Officers evaluated the condition of the student who was found to be intoxicated.  The student refused medical attention.  The student's roommates agreed to care for the student.  Incident report completed.
  • 5:15 PM - Bergsaker Hall, 1110 W. 33rd Street.  Public Intoxication.  Officers were dispatched to investigate a male subject that was laying on the ground.  Officers determined that male subject was not a student and was intoxicated.  The subject was very intoxicated and Officers called 911 for assistance to determine if the subject required medical intervention.  Ambulance and Police arrived on scene.  The subject refused medical attention.  Police removed the subject from campus.  Incident report completed.

Friday, September 9, 2016

  • 3:58 AM - Stavig Hall, 2008 S. Walts Avenue.  Medical Call.  An officer was dispatched to check on the well-being of a student who was concerned about medical symptoms. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue and Paramedics Plus ambulance also responded and assessed the health of the student. Appropriate action was taken. Incident report completed.

  • 11:35 AM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2300 Block of S. Duluth Avenue.  Bicycle Theft.  A student contacted Campus Safety to report their bicycle had been stolen during the previous overnight hours. The bicycle was locked at the time of the theft. Incident report completed.

  • 4:55 PM - Granskou Hall, 2009 S. Prairie Avenue.  Check Well-Being.  Officers responded to a request to check on the well-being of a student. The student was located safe and well. Incident report completed.
  • 9:36 PM - Stavig Hall, 2008 S. Walts Avenue.  Check Well-Being.  Residence Life requested Campus Safety officers assist in checking on the well-being of a student. The student was located and appropriate action taken. Incident report completed.

  • 12:45 PM - Kirkeby-Over Stadium, 2700 S. Lake Avenue.  Medical Call.  Officers and an EMT responded to a personal injury caused by a fall from a railing where the victim had been sitting during a football game. After initial treatment by an EMT, relatives declined further care and took responsibility for the victim. Incident report completed.
  • 1:18 PM - Kirkeby-Over Stadium, 2700 S. Lake Avenue.  Medical Call.  Officers and an EMT responded to a report of a person falling ill during a football game.  After initial treatment by an EMT, relatives declined further care and took responsibility for the victim. Incident report completed.

  • 2:30 PM - Morrison Commons, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Stalking.  Two students presented at Campus Safety to file a late report of a stalking incident off campus 48 hours earlier. While walking from a local business back to campus the students noticed that they were being followed by a a vehicle driven by a male subject. The subject pulled alongside the students and began making obscene suggestive remarks while video recording the students with his cellphone. Incident report completed and forwarded to SFPD.
  • 8:13 PM - Morrison Commons, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Indecent Exposure.  A student presented at Campus Safety to file a late report of an incident which occurred approximately one month earlier. While walking along the perimeter of campus the victim reported that a male subject driving a car pulled alongside and asked for directions. The subject began to lower the volume of his voice so that the victim stepped nearer to the car to hear when the subject exposed himself. Incident report completed.

  • 5:45 PM - College Drive, Campus Area.  Indecent Exposure.  A student presented to the Office of Campus Safety and reported that a male subject had exposed himself to the student.  The student had been running when the male subject asked the student for directions while driving his car.  When the student approached the car the male subject exposed himself.  Incident report completed as well as a Police report.

  • 4:20 PM - Stavig Hall, 2008 S. Walts Avenue.  Vandalism to Vehicle.  A Campus Safety Officer was contacted by a staff member via radio that their vehicle had been vandalised while parked on campus property.  Officers responded.  Vehicle information was recorded and Police were called and arrived on scene.  Incident report completed.
  • 10:58 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2334 S. Duluth Avenue.  Fire Alarm.  Campus Safety and Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to a fire alarm activation.  SFFR reset the alarm panel.  The alarm activation was a result of a cooking accident.  Incident report completed.

  • 4:30 PM - Stavig Hall Parking Lot, 2008 S. Walts Avenue.  Motor Vehicle Accident, Non-Injury.  Campus Safety Dispatch was notified a a two party motor vehicle accident in a dormitory parking lot. Officers responded and determined there were no injuries, interviewed drivers and documented damage. SFPD responded and issued red tags to both drivers. Incident report completed.
  • 6:50 PM - Olsen House, 1936 S. Walts Avenue.  Public Urination.  An officer observed a male subject urinating outside of a University residential house. Subject was determined to be intoxicated, identified and warned that his conduct was a misdemeanor criminal offense. Subject was instructed to return to his own residence. Incident report completed.
  • 7:00 PM - Menlo Annex, 1933 S. Menlo Avenue.  Noise Disturbance, Party.  An officer was searching for a reported possible injured person when he made contact at a University residential house because of suspicious circumstances. Upon contacting the residents the officer determined that an unauthorized party was in progress and was creating a disturbance. Residence Life was notified and determined that intervention was necessary due to unsafe circumstances at the residence. The party was dispersed and a large amount of alcohol was confiscated.  Incident report completed.

  • 2:25 AM - Froiland Science Center, 2407 S. Summit Avenue.  Trespassing.  An officer conducting patrol observed three male subjects with a ladder up against an academic building attempting to gain access to the roof. Subjects were identified and SFPD were requested to respond and assist in search for a fourth subject possibly on the roof or in the building. Roof and building were cleared. Incident report completed.
  • 3:37 AM - Elmen Center Parking Lot, 2505 S. Grange Avenue.  Suspected DUI / Violation of University Alcohol Policy.  An officer conducting patrol observed a stopped car in a University parking lot with the engine running and the driver unconscious behind the wheel. Officers woke the subject up and detected a powerful odor of alcohol. Subject attempted to flee from officers in the vehicle and again on foot, refusing to identify himself for Campus Safety officers. SFPD was requested to assist in the investigation. Subject was identified as an Augustana student and was released into University custody for transport to housing. Incident report completed.
  • 3:30 PM - Global Education House, 2001 S. Norton Avenue.  Campus Safety was advised of an active fire alarm in a University residential house. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue and Campus Safety responded and determined that bathroom steam was the likely cause of the alarm. SFFR authorized reoccupation of the house. Incident report completed.
  • 4:45 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2316 S. Dululth Avenue.  Bicycle Theft.  A student presented at Campus Safety and reported that their bicycle had been stolen sometime over the last several days. The bicycle was locked at the time of the theft. Incident report completed and an investigation continues.
  • 10:40 PM - Tuve Hall Parking Lot, 2016 S. Menlo Avenue.  Violations of Student Code of Conduct.  An officer made contact with two subjects for directing obscenities at staff, failing to follow instructions, and dishonesty before University authorities. Subjects were identified and an incident report was completed.
  • 11:10 PM - Private Property, 2116 S. Norton, Avenue.  Noise Disturbance, Party.  A Campus Safety officer on patrol observed a party in progress involving large numbers of underage drinkers. Officers made contact with a resident of the house and warned against hosting minors as approximately three dozen guests fled on foot back towards the campus. Incident report completed.

Grange Avenue.  Motor Vehicle Accident.  A student presented at Campus Safety to file a late report of a hit and run motor vehicle accident ocurring in a University parking lot. Damaged was documented and an incident report was completed. Investigation continues.
  • 1:38 PM - Solberg Hall, 2312 S. Grange Avenue.  Hit & Run Motor Vehicle Accident.  A student contacted the Office of Campus safety and reported that her vehicle had sustained damage in a University parking lot.  Damage was documented and an incident report was completed.  Investigation continues.

  • 11:25 AM - Global Education House, 2001 S. Norton Avenue.  Fire Alarm.  Officers were dispatched to a fire alarm activation.  Sioux Falls Fire Rescue also responded.  When Officers arrived on scene ther were no sign of smoke or visible flame.  A cleaning crew had been cleaning the building prior to the alarm activation which may have led to the alarm activation.  SFFR arrived and attempted to reset the panel with out success. Electricians were notified of a possible issue with the fire system.  Incident report completed.

  • 8:00 AM - Center for Western Studies, 2121 S. Summit Avenue.  Theft.  Center for Western Studies personnel reported that two male subjects entered the CWS, split up and began looking through shelves of books and periodicals. Subjects left within a few minutes were described as behaving suspiciously as they exited the building. Upon checking the area where the subjects had been concentrating their attention CWS staff discovered that the interior pages of an antique atlas had been removed from the binding. Incident report completed and investigation continues.
  • 9:35 PM - Duluth Place Apartments, 2350 S. Duluth Avenue.  Fire Alarm.  Campus Safety officers were dispatched to investigate a report of an active fire alarm in a University apartment building. Alarm appeared to have been activated by cooking smoke from the kitchen area. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded, reset the alarm and authorized reoccupation of the apartment. Incident report completed.

  • 12:35 PM - Morrison Commons, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  Theft / Attempted Credit Card Fraud.  Two subjects entered the Augustana Book Store and attempted to purchase gifts cards valued at $1,200.00 using a credit card.  Campus Safety was notified when clerks became suspicious. Subjects fled with two blank gift cards and the transaction was denied. SFPD responded and took appropriate action. Incident report completed.

  • 10:17 PM - Edith Mortensen Center Parking Lot, 2112 S. Grange Avenue.  False Emergency Callbox Activation / Verbal Harassment.  DCS Dispatch received an obscene call from an Emergency Phone Box on campus. Officers responded and stopped a group of seven juveniles ages 12 -17, identified the subjects and determined who the responsible person was. SFPD responded to complete the investigation and took appropriate action. Incident report completed.

  • 5:34 PM - Diversity Experience House, 1923 S. Prairie.  Fire Alarm.  DCS Dispatch received an automated fire alarm from a University residential house and dispatched officers to investigate. Residents were evacuated and the source of the alarm was determined to be a cooking fire on a stove burner. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded, took appropiate action and then authorized reoccupation of the building. Incident report completed.

Grange Avenue.  Motor Vehicle Accident.  A faculty member contacted Camus Safety to report his vehicle had been damaged while parked in a University parking lot.
