Remember, when selecting rooms for the coming school year, the Campus Life Office uses your high school graduation date (not your class standing) to determine which options are available to you. Therefore, information provided here under Rising Sophomores will apply to all current first-year students who are selecting spaces for the coming fall.
Where Can I Live?
How Do I Choose My Next Room?
For specific Room Selection dates, please visit the Room Selection Calendar.
Residence hall spaces are chosen on Room Selection Day. When you and your roommate arrive to sign up for a space at your predetermined time, you will be able to choose from spaces in any of the residence halls available to you
Essentially, the process will progress as follows:
Step 1: Before attending Room Selection Day, you will need to complete your housing contract online, accessible through your student portal. Please note that your room selection will not be valid until you have submitted a housing contract.
Step 2: You will receive an e-mail from the Residence Life Office that tells you (a) what your Room Selection Number is and (b) when you will be able to go through the process on Room Selection Day. You will likely receive this information several weeks in advance of Room Selection Day.
Step 3: On Room Selection Day, you will arrive about 10-15 minutes before your designated time, check-in, and wait to be allowed in.
Step 4: Once you are allowed in, you will be able to visit any of the tables that correspond to halls in which you are interested.
What About Single Rooms?
Single rooms are designated throughout the four upperclassmen residence halls. They are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis during Room Selection Day. If a single room is available when you are permitted to select a space on Room Selection Day, you may do so. If no single rooms are available, you will be expected to select a space in a double room, but can be placed on a single room waiting list. If a single room becomes available, we will let you know.
