Gallery Exhibit Features the Prints of Mark Lunning
SIOUX FALLS – Augustana’s Eide/Dalrymple Gallery presents “Profiles, Passages and other Abstracts: The Prints of Mark Lunning.”
Master printmaker Mark Lunning’s visual explorations employ several different styles, from photographic representations to the completely abstract, layered with luminous colors and organic forms. To achieve his layered images, Lunning works in several different printmaking techniques, such as a la poupee photo etchings, where different colored inks are selectively applied to an etched plate.
Lunning is also an educator and advocate for traditional and contemporary printmaking techniques, fine art processes that go back centuries. He teaches printmaking at the Arts Students League of Denver and assists other artists in creating hand-crafted prints through his printmaking facility and gallery, Open Press Ltd., in Denver, Colo. Lunning will also be conducting a printmaking workshop for Augustana students during the week of his exhibition opening.
Lunning’s exhibition runs October 16 thru November 22. A reception and artist talk will be held Friday, October 17, from 7:00-9:00 p.m.
