May 6: Spring Choral Concert Salutes American Music
The Augustana Choir, Angelus and The Collegiate Chorale join forces for their Spring Choral Concert, "A Salute to American Music," at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, in Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
The concert will feature a number of works from American composers, including:
- "Cindy" by Mack Wilberg (The Augustana Choir)
- "Alleluia" by Randall Thompson (Angelus)
- "Psalm 100" by Renee Clausen (Angelus, with double pianos played by Deanna Wehrspann and Marilyn Schempp)
- "Psalm 23" by Robert Hanson (Angelus)
- "If Ye Love Me" by Thomas Tallis (The Collegiate Chorale)
- "Ave verum corpus" by William Byrd (The Collegiate Chorale)
- "Alleluia! I Will Sing" by Craig Carnahan (The Collegiate Chorale)
- "Stomp Your Foot" from Aaron Copland's only opera, The Tender Land (The Augustana Choir, Angelus and The Collegiate Chorale)
The Augustana Choir will be under the direction of Dr. Weston Noble, Angelus will be under the direction of Dr. Lisa Grevlos and The Collegiate Chorale will be under the direction of Russell Svenningsen. This will be Noble's last concert at Augustana College and a reception after the concert will be held in his honor.
