The Augustana Choir, the Collegiate Chorale, Angelus and the Chamber Choir will perform a Fall Concert Event beginning at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. The concert will mark the directorial debut of Dr. Paul Nesheim, associate professor of music and director of The Augustana Choir, the fifth in the Choir’s 90-year history.
Nesheim joins Angelus conductor Dr. Lisa Grevlos and Dr. Russell Svenningsen, who conducts The Collegiate Chorale. The three choirs, numbering 160 singers in all, will perform two mass numbers, "Sine nomine," by R.V. Williams and John Rutter's rendition of "When the Saints Go Marching In." Additional selections include works by J.S. Bach, Ben Allaway, René Clausen and Robert Shaw.
The Augustana Choir continues to prepare for their 22-day tour to Eastern Europe that takes place January 13- 31, 2013. Their tour includes concerts in Berlin, Potsdam, Dresden, and Leipzig in Germany, as well as Prague and Brno of the Czech Republic, Krakow in Poland, as well as Vienna and Salzburg in Austria. All three choirs come together with the Augustana Orchestra in their annual presentation of Augustana Vespers, on November 30, December 1 and 2.
