Oct. 28: Orchestra to Perform Holiday 'Hauntcert'
Tis' the season for the Augustana Orchestra's performance of “Hauntcert" — an audience favorite with spooky music and special guests set for 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. The "Hauntcert" will feature "ghastly" orchestral works, including classical crowd-pleasers like Gounod’s "Funeral March of a Marionette" (made famous as the theme song to "Alfred Hitchcock Presents"), Grieg’s "March of the Trolls," and Berlioz’s "March to the Scaffold." The audience will also be treated to music from popular movies and musicals, including Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Lord of the Rings, and Wicked.
The Augustana Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Christopher Stanichar, will present the concert in costume and the audience is invited to do the same. The concert will also include balloon artists, Ole the Viking, cameo appearances by well-known area celebrities and more. Following the concert, children and parents can take part in the "Instrumental Petting Zoo" and even trick-or-treat!
The "Hauntcert" promises to be a mildly spooky event, geared towards entertaining families. Everyone is welcome to attend and costumes are encouraged.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens. Tickets are available at www.augietickets.com or by calling the Augustana Box Office at 605.274.5320. Tickets are FREE for those with an Augustana ID and for any student K-12.
