Augustana will celebrate the global perspectives and cultural diversity alive on campus during an extended “International Education Week,” Nov. 8-21.
The Eide/Dalrymple Gallery will present Rock of Ages: Stone Tools – The Pathway to Human Culture Thursday, Nov. 13 - Friday, Dec. 12, 2014. A gallery reception is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14.
The Augustana student Government Club (C.O.U.P.S.) and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion will host a panel discussion on the "Impact of Ferguson" with local law enforcement, officials from the City of Sioux Falls and community leaders. The event is set for 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, in the Back Alley inside Morrison Commons. Free and open to the public.
Students present on their various home countries at 3 p.m. on Fridays as part of the Rendezvous Program. The events, which are hosted by the International Program Office and Augustana International Club, are free and open to the public.
The Augustana College and Community Trombone Choir, under the direction of Vance Shoemaker, will present a concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23, in Kresge Recital Hall. The concert will feature works by various artists including, Gordon Bowie, Dmitry Bortniansky, William Croft, Franz Joseph Haydn, Leonard Bernstein and others. Free and open to the public.
As part of Christmas at Augustana, Augustana Performing and Visual Arts presents Christmas Vespers 2014, "Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus," a celebration of the birth of Christ featuring Augustana’s four choirs and the orchestra, Dec. 5-7, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. For the first time, we invite you to Christmas Vespers in the Twin Cities at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 19, at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Mahtomedi, Minnesota. Buy tickets.
As part of Christmas at Augustana, the Augustana Performing and Visual Arts presents the Augustana Bands Christmas Extravaganza, a holiday concert featuring nearly 200 instrumentalists including the Augustana Brass Choir, the Augustana Band, and the Augustana College/Community Band at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, at the Washington Pavilion in historic downtown Sioux Falls.
