Bret Healy, a consultant for Four Directions, a voting rights advocacy organization headquartered in South Dakota, will speak on voting rights at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 19, in room 103 of the Madsen Center.

The event, which is free and open to the public, is presented by the Augie Dems, AISES (American Indian Science and Engineering Society) and COUPS.

Healy is the principle member of River Bluffs Strategies, which represents Native American, agriculture, credit, and banking clients.

His presentation, "From Selma to Shannon County – the Fight for Voting Rights Continues," will detail the efforts of Four Directions to establish equal opportunities for Native American voters and the resulting and ongoing legal battles in South Dakota and Montana.
