Augustana Performing & Visual Arts will present the Augustana Band, under the direction of Dr. Christopher Unger, and the Augustana University College & Community Band, under the direction of Dr. Paul Schilf, in "This World Alive," a multimedia concert beginning at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8, at the Washington Pavilion in downtown Sioux Falls.

Tickets range in price from $14-$20 and are free for students K-12 and those with a valid Augie ID. Season ticket subscriptions are available. Tickets can also be purchased at the Washington Pavilion. All seats are reserved.

Featuring works by composer Steve Danyew, this special concert event will combine music and striking visuals.

As musical selections the Miami Herald once called "startlingly beautiful" fill the Pavilion's Great Hall, audience members will see a silent film featuring the iconic landscape photographs of Ansel Adams, choreographed and synced with the music by filmmaker Cuyler Bryant.

"The title of this work [This World Alive] is inspired by a quote by Ansel Adams," Unger said. "It seems to perfectly sum up the vision and inspiration for this project: 'The whole world is, to me, very much "alive" — all the little growing things, even the rocks. I can’t look at a swell bit of grass and earth, for instance, without feeling the essential life — the things going on within them. The same goes for a mountain, or a bit of the ocean, or a magnificent piece of old wood.'"
