Disney-Themed Concert Features Augustana Orchestra
Disney in Concert A Dream is a Wish will come to stage at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, in the Mary W. Sommervold Hall at the Washington Pavilion, featuring the Augustana Orchestra, film clips and professional vocalists.
Featuring some of the most beloved songs from Walt Disney films, this family concert transports audiences into the musical world of classic and contemporary Disney Animated Feature films to discover that dreams really do come true.
Join our 70-piece orchestra as we awaken a little mermaid who longs to be human, a lion cub who struggles to find his place in the circle of life, and two sisters who wish to warm a frozen relationship. The stories of The Little Mermaid, The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Frozen, Aladdin and more, are told through the talents of four Broadway-caliber singers, original Disney film footage and sweeping orchestral scores performed by the Augustana Orchestra. The magic of Disney storytelling comes to life once again and reminds us anew that anything is possible, “… if you keep on believing, the dream that you wish will come true.”
“The orchestra and I are incredibly excited to prepare and perform this concert for children young and children young at heart,” says Dr. Peter Folliard, conductor of the Augustana Orchestra. “We’ll play all your favorite songs with projected clips from the movies — have wonderful singers and, all in all, have an incredible afternoon of music and magic.”
