Faculty Recital: Russell Svenningsen and Brett Cooper

Dr. Russell Svenningsen, tenor, associate professor of music and director of the University Chorale at Augustana along with collaborative pianist Brett Cooper will hold a recital at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, in Hamre Recital Hall.
About Dr. Svenningsen
An active singer, Dr. Svenningsen has appeared as featured soloist with orchestras and opera companies both locally and around the world. Recent performances include: presentations of Schubert’s song cycle Winterreise around the Midwest, performances with the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra and appearances with Sounds of South Dakota, a local opera company. He holds a master of music in choral conducting from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music, and a bachelor of music from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota. His doctorate was earned from Boston University in music Education.
About Brett Cooper
Currently working in his role as Senior Development Associate and Volunteer Coordinator, Mr. Cooper has worked for the Washigton Pavilion since 2012; previously worked as the DAPA Theatre Youth Production Music Director. Prior to this, he worked as an accompanist for the Singing Boys of Sioux Falls and Piano Laboratory Instructor for the First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. He earned his bachelor of Music and Business Management from Luther College in 2009. Along with his work at the Washington Pavilion, Mr. Cooper also serves as a pianist and organist for Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sioux Falls.
