The Augustana Performing and Visual Arts will present "An Orchestral Salute to Scandinavia" featuring Ms. Deborah Greenblatt, a string residence and Nckelharpa soloist, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, at the Washington Pavilion.

This concert marks the Sioux Falls premiere of a concerto for the nyckelharpa (keyed-fidddle), a Swedish instrument joyfully played by violinist, Debby Greenblatt. Based on tales from "Hans Christian Anderson Suite," Dr. Christopher Stanichar’s original composition will certainly delight everyone. Other selections include "Finlandia" by Jean Sibelius, "Norwegian Rhapsody," and "Peer Gynt Suites 1 and 2."

Tickets range in price from $15-$20 and are free for students K-12 and those with a valid Augie ID. Season ticket subscriptions are available until Sunday, Nov. 2. Tickets will be available beginning Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Washington Pavilion. All seats are reserved.

About the Orchestra

Directed by Dr. Christopher Stanichar, the Augustana Orchestra, consists of both community and student members with the goal of producing high quality musical performances of orchestral music. The orchestra acts as a training ground for talented students to learn the great orchestral repertoire, as well as the excitement of premiering new works. It also gives talented community members of all ages an ensemble in which they can continue to develop and enjoy their musical skills.
