SIOUX FALLS – Augustana has received a $5,000 grant from United States Tennis Association (USTA) Northern Adopt-A-Court program.
Jeff Holm, Assistant Director of Athletics, said the grant will go toward construction of the new Huether Tennis Centre on Augustana’s campus.
The Adopt-A-Court grant supports tennis court renovation and construction at parks, schools, and college campuses throughout the Northern Section. USTA Northern, based in Bloomington, Minn., is one of 17 sections that make up the USTA and covers Minnesota, North and South Dakota, and Northwestern Wisconsin.
The USTA is the national governing body for the sport of tennis in the United States and is a not-for-profit organization with more than 750,000 members. For more information on USTA Northern, visit them online.
Mike and Cindy Huether of Sioux Falls provided the lead gift for the Huether Tennis Centre. Six championship-level courts will be built on the site of the present tennis facility at Augustana. Construction on the $300,000 project is scheduled to begin this spring.
