This paper and the student and faculty publication at Canton, The Augustana, which first appeared in 1908, are the literary ancestors of The Augustana Mirror.

In 1918, The Augustana was re-named The Augustana Mirror. The oldest of the student publications, The Augustana Mirror was published bimonthly beginning in March 1922. It was changed to a weekly newspaper in 1940.
