Research Grant Renewed for Augustana
SIOUX FALLS - Augustana College has received official notice that the South Dakota BRIN (Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network) grant was renewed by the NIH (National Institutes of Health) for another five years.
The South Dakota BRIN grant supports biomedical research across the state of South Dakota and is coordinated by the Sanford School of Medicine, USD. Augustana is a partner institution.
The grant will provide $16.1 million over five years, including $2.25 million over five years to fund student and faculty research at Augustana.
This summer, the grant is supporting 24 Augustana students in research at Augustana, Sanford Research in Sioux Falls, Avera Research in Sioux Falls, Sanford School of Medicine, USD, in Vermillion, and South Dakota State University in Brookings.
Dr. Michael Wanous, Associate Professor of Biology and Chair of the Natural Science Division, is the grant coordinator for Augustana.
