Record Number of Season Tickets Sold for 2009 Augustana Football Season

Augustana College officials announced today that the Vikings have sold a record 2,064 season tickets for the 2009 football season. This figure is 543 more than the previous high of 1,521 season tickets, sold in 2008.

Augustana Director of Athletics Bill Gross credits the increase in ticket sales to moving home football games on campus at Kirkeby-Over Stadium, along with the marketing of new season ticket options. For the 2009 season, Augustana has sold 1,195 chairback seats, 749 bleacher seats and all 120 seats in 10 suites at the stadium.

“This significant increase in season ticket sales is a reflection of the exciting game-day atmosphere which has been created on campus at Kirkeby-Over Stadium and the talented football team we are putting on the field," Gross said. "We’re pleased Sioux Falls and area fans have responded positively with their support.”

Augustana has four remaining regular season home games. The Vikings, ranked 25th in this week's AFCA Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll, entertain Concordia University , St. Paul, on Sept. 26. Augustana then plays host to Upper Iowa on October 17 for Viking Days. The Vikings conclude the regular season with home games against Winona State on October 31 and Northern State on November 7. All home games kick off at 1 p.m.
