Augustana Student Creates New Sioux Falls Transit Logo
Tuesday, December 1, 2009
SIOUX FALLS, SD – Sarah Karlstad, a sophomore art major from Mitchell, SD, designed the new logo unveiled today by Sioux Falls Transit (SFT).
Earlier this year, SFT introduced new buses with an updated look. The Public Transit Marketing Committee then decided to update the name and logo of the system.
A call for naming suggestions from the public was issued and Augustana Professor Tom Shields’ graphics design class provided assistance creating the logo design. Sarah Karlstad, a member of the class, created the image that was eventually selected (shown below). The new name is Sioux Area Metro.
Brady Holm, a junior art and communication studies major from Fairmont, MN, and Regina Brunz, a sophomore art major from Sioux Falls, also submitted designs.
Today’s unveiling took place at the Public Transit facility.
