Six Students Awarded Christopherson Scholarships

SIOUX FALLS, SD – Six Augustana students have been awarded Fred C. and J. Marie Christopherson Scholarships for the 2010-2011 academic year.

The Augustana Faculty Scholarship and Awards Committee made the selections on the basis of scholarship, campus/community service, and how well the nominees fit the description of the donors as someone “equipped for life.”

Fred C. Christopherson, who died in 1989, was the editor of the Sioux Falls Argus Leader for 31 years. J. Marie Christopherson, who died in 1989, wrote the Driftwood column published in the Argus Leader for 20 years.

The 2010-2011 Christopherson Scholarship recipients are:

  • Elliot Bloom, junior, Biology and Chemistry major. He is the son of Marcene and Merlin Bloom of Rapid City, SD.
  • Nicole Lindsey, junior, Bioloy and Art Major. She is the daughter of Jeri and Dustin Lindsey of Spirit Lake, IA.
  • Hannah Miller, sophomore, Elementary Education and Special Education major. She is the daughter of Jodie and Tim Miller of Mankato, MN.
  • Lindsey Olson, junior, Elementary Education major. She is the daughter of Patti and David Olson of Luverne, MN.
  • Kenan Tokmic, junior, Chemistry and Physics major. He is the son of Adila and Kemal Tokmic of Sioux Falls.
  • Sawyer Vanden Heuvel, sophomore, Business Administration major. He is the son of Shari and Greg Vanden Heuvel of Rock Rapids, IA.
