Gerszewski Named Augustana Sports Information Director

SIOUX FALLS, SD – Tim Gerszewski, who has served as assistant athletic communications director at Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) since 2008, has been appointed Sports Information Director at Augustana. He begins his new duties June 1.
Gerszewski, a native of Mayville, ND, earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications at Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) in 2008, and a master’s in education with emphasis in sports leadership at SMSU. He was named assistant athletic communications director at SMSU in August, 2008. While there he served as the primary media contact for seven of the university’s 11 sports.
"I am very excited to be part of such a high-caliber institution like Augustana,” Gerszewski said. “Augustana has shown it is among the elite in NCAA Division II, and I am honored to become part of this tradition. As soon as I stepped on campus, I knew this would be a great fit, and the people here immediately and warmly welcomed me."
During his time at MSUM, he was the chief writer for The Greatest Silent Sport documentary that won an Upper Midwest Regional Emmy and was named Best Student Documentary at the 2009 Fargo Film Festival. Gerszewski also won several national and regional awards for his work as an anchor, producer, reporter and photographer for MSUM's Campus News program.
Prior to joining the staff at SMSU, he worked as news and sports photographer at KVRR-TV, the FOX affiliate in Fargo, N.D.
