Tuesday, July 13, 2010
Members of the Augustana College and Community Band are back in the U.S. after a two-week concert tour of Greece and Turkey.
The 54-member Band, which includes community members, Augustana alumni, current students and future students, presented four concerts and also performed with native artists, including the Larissa Municipal Band and the Markopoulis Community Youth Band in Greece.
“These exciting performance opportunities gave our Band members so many rewarding cross-cultural and intergenerational exchanges,” said Dr. Paul Schilf, assistant professor of music at Augustana. “It was an extraordinary experience.”
This trip marks the third time the College and Community Band has toured abroad. Previously, the Band has presented concerts in Germany, Italy, Austria, Poland and The Czech Republic. Another College and Community Band tour is being planned by Dr. Schilf for 2012.
