Augustana Writer-in-Residence to Discuss A Writer's Life

Due to unforeseen circumstances, mystery Writer and Poet Mary Logue will not present “A Tapestry of Words” as planned at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21.

The literary event, sponsored by the Augustana Library Associates, will still take place in Kresge Recital Hall, located on the Augustana campus.

Dr. Patrick Hicks, an award-winning author, poet and Augustana’s Writer-in-Residence, will present “A Writer’s Life.” Hicks will read from his work, discuss his adventures as an author and discuss how writing can serve as a tool to understand the world.

An award-winning poet and short story writer, Hicks has published several collections of poetry, including Finding the Gossamer (2008) and This London (2010), both of which were published by Ireland's acclaimed press, Salmon Poetry. Most recently, Hicks edited A Harvest of Words: Contemporary South Dakota Poetry (2010) published by the Center for Western Studies. In addition to his poetry, Hicks has published numerous short stories and is completing a novel.
