1 p.m. MONDAY UPDATE: Students En Route Home

Augustana officials have announced the following updates regarding student members of the Augustana Band and other travelers returning to the U.S. from Cairo, Egypt:

  • Students and tour travelers in the “King Tut” and “Sphinx” groups are in the process of arriving in Minneapolis – Delta Flight No. 259 has arrived and Delta Flight No. 265 is scheduled to arrive at 4:40 p.m. CST. These groups will then fly to Sioux Falls on Delta Flight No. 9857, which is scheduled to arrive in Sioux Falls at 8:41 p.m. A bus will transport students from Sioux Falls Regional Airport to campus.

  • The “Cleopatra” group, which left Cairo this morning, has arrived in Amsterdam. This group will stay overnight in Amsterdam and is scheduled to arrive at 12:15 p.m. CST tomorrow (Feb. 1) in Minneapolis on Delta Flight No. 259. From Minneapolis, the group will fly to Sioux Falls on Delta Flight No. 9857, scheduled to arrive at 4:25 p.m. A bus will transport students from Sioux Falls Regional Airport to campus.

  • Despite the challenges they are enduring, our students remain dedicated to and concerned about their studies. We've heard from a few parents that some students are concerned about possibly missing classes as a result of these events. Rest assured, classes will not resume until Thursday, so no classes need be missed. Augustana administrators and faculty are absolutely sensitive to the needs of these students. Students should not worry about missed classes or assignments and should feel free to visit with their professors if they remain concerned. However, we are NOT issuing any kind of blanket release for band students to miss class Thursday or Friday. (Wednesday classes have been canceled due to weather.)

  • In addition, due to predicted severe weather conditions, the first day of classes for the spring semester has been changed to Thursday, Feb. 3.

Parents or family members who have questions may contact Augustana Campus Safety at 605.274.4014.

Updates will continue to be provided at www.augie.edu.
