'Heritage and Hope' Series to Pair Emeriti, Junior Faculty

Augustana College today announced details for its “Heritage and Hope” series, a first-of-its-kind program featuring interviews between junior and emeriti faculty members.

“As we celebrate our Sesquicentennial, this is a chance for us to pair new voices of today with the iconic voices of Augustana’s past,” said the Rev. Paul Rohde, campus pastor. “Our new professors will get to hear and relate stories and challenges of long ago. I expect to hear color and characters, triumphs and tragedies. The speakers will each offer reflections and convey the hope of those they interviewed for the College and community.”

Each "Heritage and Hope" presentation will begin at 10 a.m. and will be held in the Chapel of Reconciliation.

The series will feature the following speakers:

  • Monday, Feb. 7: Dr. Laurie Jungling, assistant professor of religion and ethics, discussing her interview with Dr. Art Olsen, professor emeritus of religion.
  • Monday, Feb. 14: Dr. Lindsey Twa, assistant professor of art, discussing her interview with Bob Aldern, professor emeritus of art.
  • Monday, Feb. 21: Dr. Matt Pehl, assistant professor of history, discussing his interview with Dr. Lyn Oyos, professor emeritus of history.
  • Monday, Feb. 28: Dr. Christopher Stanichar, associate professor of Music, discussing his interview with Dr. Harry Krueger, professor emeritus of music.
