Friday, December 16, 2011
Augustana today announced it has collected 1,150 gifts for area children, families and individuals in need through its Christmas Giving Program.
“On behalf of Augustana, thank you to our students, faculty and staff, alumni and community members for their generous support of the Christmas Giving Program,” said Billy Thomas, director of Volunteer Programs for Augustana. “We surpassed our goal of 1,000 gifts and we’re excited help provide happy Christmas memories for people in need right here in Sioux Falls.”
Augustana students wrapped each of the collected gifts during Semester Shutdown, an event celebrating the end of the fall semester, held on Wednesday, Dec. 14, in the Morrison Commons.
The gifts will be presented to local nonprofits, including the Children’s Inn, Children’s Home Society, Heartland House, Lutheran Social Services, and the Boys and Girls Club of the Sioux Empire, early next week.
