Business Club Students to Attend Meeting With Warren Buffett
Wednesday, May 2, 2012
Thanks to a donation from members of the Sioux Falls business community, student members of the Augustana Business Club will have a chance to participate in a Q&A with legendary investor Warren Buffett.
The Club received 40 exclusive shareholder passes to the Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholders Meeting, set for Saturday, May 5, in Omaha, Neb. After arriving at the Century Link Center in Omaha, students will witness the annual company film featuring the various businesses owned under the Berkshire Hathaway corporation. The remainder of the day will consist of a Q&A session with company leaders including Buffett, chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway. Recently diagnosed with cancer, speculators believe this will likely be one of the last annual meetings Buffett will lead.
In past years, more than 40,000 people have attended the meeting.
Jacob Bierl ’13 is looking forward to attending the meeting.
“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity,” he said. “It’s going to be a fun day full of behind-the-scenes information that is impossible to learn in the classroom.”
Augustana students will be able to learn more about how each business in Berkshire Hathaway operates by witnessing the ongoing exhibits throughout the day. Businesses at the event include: ACME Brick Company, Benjamin Moore & Co., Berkadia, BOATU.S., Borsheims, BNSF Railway, Brooks Sports, Business Wire, BYD, Campbell Hausfeld, Clayton Homes, Coca-Cola, Cort, CTB International, Dairy Queen, Douglas Quikut, Ecowater Systems, Fechheimer Brothers, Forest River, Fruit of the Loom, Garan, Geico, H.H.
