Recent Grad Honored by National History Honor Society

Jake Bury, Augustana class of 2012, was awarded the prestigious Nels Andrew Cleven Founder’s Paper Prize by Phi Alpha Theta, the national History Honor Society, for his senior thesis titled "The Church’s War: The Church of England during the Great War."

This honor is given to two undergraduate and two graduate students and awards $350 each for superior papers submitted by student members of Phi Alpha Theta.

A native of Sioux Falls, Bury served as president of the Augustana Student Association during his senior year and was a member of The Augustana Choir, New Student Orientation and the History and German Honors Societies. He was named the 2012 recipient of the Covenant Award for Community.

Bury is currently working as a teacher in Alaska.
