Jackie Payne Named Director of Development

Augustana today announced that Jackie Payne has been named director of development.

In her new role, Payne will be responsible for raising private support for the student, faculty and programming needs of the College and for identifying ways to build and foster strong connections between alumni and friends and Augustana.

Payne has more than 15 years of experience in higher education, executive relationship management and sales. She attended Augustana from 1993 to 1995 and earned her bachelor’s degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn.

Most recently, she served as an account executive for Midcontinent Communications. She spent a decade with Wells Fargo Education Financial Services and also worked as an Admission counselor for Concordia.

“Jackie is well-suited for this important role. Her experience in relationship building and resource development, coupled with her charismatic personality and genuine interest in the lives of others will be immensely valuable as we work to build an ‘Augustana Like Never Before,’” said Bob Preloger, vice president for Advancement. “We’re thrilled to have her on our team.”

In addition to her professional experience, Payne is an active civic volunteer. She serves as chair of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Executive Leadership Team, has been an associate ambassador for the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce, and currently serves on the board of directors for Southeastern Behavioral and is a member of the Festival of Trees Silent Auction Committee. She is a past member of the Thrivent Financial Board of Directors.

A member of the South Sioux Kiwanis Club, Payne is also a volunteer for the Sioux Empire United Way and Junior Achievement. She is also involved with the Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Network, South Dakota Advertising Federation, Sioux Falls Women in Business, and Business and Professional Women.

Payne and her husband, Tory, reside in Sioux Falls with their three children, Dexter, Mason and Jaden.
