Sioux Falls Mayor Declares Sept. 8 ‘Augustana Day’

City officials, community members, students, faculty, staff and alumni marked the start of the 2010-2011 academic year and honored Augustana's Sesquicentennial at the College's Opening Convocation ceremony.

Augustana Reports Record Student Retention Rate

On its first day of classes, Augustana College reported an 86 percent freshman-to-sophomore retention rate, the highest since 1971, the first year the College began tracking the statistic.

‘8 in 48’ Short Play Festival Set for Sept. 11

The “8 in 48” Claire Donaldson Short Play Festival, featuring eight previously unproduced 10-minute plays, will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, at the Edith Mortenson Center. Admission is free.

Augustana Announces Fall 2010 Sesqui-Sundays

In honor of the College's 150th anniversary, Augustana musicians will present a series of “Sesqui-Sunday” performances during Sunday morning worship services at Sioux Falls-area churches this fall.

Restored Eidsvaag Bell to be Unveiled Sept. 8

Augustana officials will unveil the restored Eidsvaag Bell, a gift originally given to the College in 1869, at the Opening Convocation ceremony on Sesquicentennial Day, Wednesday, Sept. 8.

Augustana to Celebrate Sesquicentennial Day

Augustana will mark its 150th anniversary, and the beginning of the academic year, on Sesquicentennial Day, Wednesday, Sept. 8. The community is invited to attend Opening Convocation at 2 p.m. in the Elmen Center.
