Eight Students Inducted to Religion Studies Honor Society

Augustana's chapter of Theta Alpha Kappa (TAK) inducted eight new members this fall. They joined current members and TAK co-presidents Lizzie Davis '17 (Sioux Falls) and Austin Krohnke '18 (Waukee, Iowa) in an induction ceremony and dinner with Rev. Dr. Monica Coleman.

Freshman Places Third in National Ag Communications Competition

Trey Waldrop, an Augustana University freshman, placed No. 3 in a national ag communications competition through the FFA.

Trey Waldrop, a freshman from Miller, South Dakota, took third place in the National FFA Agricultural Communications Career Development Event held in conjunction with the national FFA Convention and Expo last month in Indianapolis, Indiana. 

Success Center Director Earns Fulbright to Study International Learning

Billie Streufert, executive director of Augustana’s Student Success Center, earned a Fulbright International Education Administrator Seminar Award this fall and recently returned from an intensive, two-week study in Germany where she examined the societal, cultural and higher education systems of other countries.

Augustana American Sign Language Interpreting Program Earns National Award

Augustana University’s Interpreter Education Program (IEP) has received the SVRS® Excellence and Innovation in Interpreter Education Award for the 2015-2016 academic school year. The honor is awarded by Sorenson Communications, LLC, the company that revolutionized Video Relay Service (VRS) communication for Deaf people and will be presented at the upcoming Conference of Interpreter Training, set for Oct. 26-28 in Lexington, Kentucky.

Augustana Senior Earns National FFA Award

Augustana University senior Liz Renner has received a national award by the FFA.

Augustana senior Liz Renner, a biology and Spanish double major from Crooks, South Dakota, was named the 2016 American Star in Agriscience last week at the 89th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana. Renner is one of only four students nationwide to receive an American Star award, the FFA's most prestigious honor in recognition of students who demonstrate outstanding agricultural skills and competencies.

Mason VanEssen (Tracy, Minnesota) and Katie Romano (Canon City, Colorado) were crowned Viking Days 2016 King and Queen at Coronation on Monday, Oct. 10. Viking Days continues throughout the week.
