  • Augustana Students Named Goldwater Scholars

    Augustana students Ashley Schmidt (Mitchell, S.D.) and Erika Zetterlund (St. Cloud, Minn.) are among 282 college students nationwide to receive the prestigious Goldwater Scholarships for the 2012-2013 academic year, an award for accomplished college students who intend to pursue careers in science, mathematics and engineering. In addition, Kristen Luepke (Courtland, Minn.) received an honorable mention by the Goldwater committee.

  • Students Pen Cover Story for National Magazine

    An article by senior Marissa Knaak and junior Megan Soe is the cover story for the Winter 2012 issue of Financial History, the magazine of the Museum of American Finance. The article, "Female Investment in America: From the 18th Century to the Great Depression," follows the integral role of women in the market economy as consumers, employees, entrepreneurs and investors.

    Terryl Cadwell, Augustana class of '75 and former chief probation officer for U.S. Probation / Pretrial Services, and Jaciel Keltgen, assistant professor of business administration, were honored on Thursday, March 29, at the 2012 Sioux Falls YWCA Tribute to Women Awards.

    American Indian activist Russell Means, widely known for leading the 71-day armed takeover of Wounded Knee on South Dakota's Pine Ridge Reservation in 1973, will discuss “Wounded Knee, Before, During and After,” at 8 p.m. on Friday, April 27, in Augustana’s Chapel of Reconciliation.
