Dr. Patrick Hicks, Writer-In-Residence and associate professor of English/ Journalism, will do the first reading from his new work, This London, on Wednesday evening, April 7, at Zandbroz Variety, downtown Sioux Falls.
While students enjoyed spring break, Asst. Professor Jason Harris and Assoc. Professor Dr. Michael Nitz, visited Bodø University College in Norway, reviewing and planning the expansion of the colleges' current partnership.
Thirty-eight students traveled abroad during Augustana’s spring break. Four separate courses were offered in Guatemala, Greece, France, and Scotland. Currently, about half of Augustana students have been abroad by the time they graduate.
Seventeen members of the Augustana Band have been chosen to perform in the 2010 South Dakota Inter-Collegiate Band, joining students from eight other South Dakota universities and colleges to perform at the 2010 South Dakota High School All-State Band Convention.
Mari Stensgaard, a junior from Rapid City, S.D., is the recipient of the 2010 Augustana Covenant Award for Community. The award for Community is given to those individuals who have been committed to serving the Augustana community.
Seventeen Augustana students will be presenting posters at the National American Chemical Society Meeting and Symposium March 21-25 in San Francisco, CA. All the Augustana students attending the conference were involved in summer research projects in 2009.
Three women from Augustana are among the 54 nominees for the YWCA Tribute to Women Awards. The nominees include Dr. Julie Ashworth, asst. professor of Education; senior Jamie Horter from Bristol, S.D., and Joyce Stuelpnagel Nelson, retired professor of Nursing.
Augustana College Viking basketball standout Cody Schilling and Head Coach Tom Billeter were featured on LifeTouch Media's "Life to the Max" show on Minneapolis' WCCO TV on Saturday, February 27. The show is hosted by WCCO radio and television personality, Mike Max.
