Augustana has announced the students who have been named to the Dean's List for the spring semester of the 2012-2013 academic year. The Dean's list recognizes high achieving, full-time students.
Research done by 2012 graduate Sarah Zokaites and senior Matt Anderson took first and second place in the undergraduate poster session at the second annual "It's All About Science" festival held Saturday, June 8, at the Sanford Center in Sioux Falls.
A design by Augustana junior Aimée Fisher, a native of Montgomery, Minn., has been selected by Sioux Falls Jazz and Blues as the winner of its annual JazzFest T-shirt design contest. Jazzfest is set for July 18-20 at Yankton Trail Park.
Earlier this spring, alumnus Braeden McCluskey spent time conducting research in Antarctica, as a part of his Ph.D. program at the University of Oregon. The 2009 grad studied icefish, concentrating on their bone loss and its relation to ailments like osteoporosis in humans.
Audrey Burkart, a junior physics major from Monument, Colo., has been awarded a $2,000 Society of Physics Students (SPS) Leadership Scholarship for her academic performance, continued scholastic development in physics, and active participation in SPS programs.
Sophomore Dillon Cathro, a double major in French and Spanish and a native of Omaha, Neb., has been awarded a Benjamin Franklin Travel Grant, an award of up to $1,500 to pursue academic studies or internships in France.
