President Oliver Recognizes Graduating Student-Athletes from Visiting Schools

With schools hosting NCAA tournaments during other's would-be commencement weekends, a new tradition has risen. Like other schools have done in recent years, Augustana recognized graduating student-athletes who were missing their graduation ceremonies in order to play in the 2015 NCAA Central Region Softball Tournament. 



Augustana Recognizes Faculty Publications from the Past Year

Mikkelsen Library honored 35 faculty members with a reception Tuesday, May 5, recognizing faculty who have published an article, book chapter, book, or have produced a work of music, drama, or art between May 2014 and April 2015.

Commencement 2015 Set for Saturday, May 23

Augustana today announced that 376 students will participate in the commencement ceremony honoring the Class of 2015, set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 23, at the Sioux Falls Arena. Doors will open at 1 p.m. for seating. An additional 55 students will graduate in absentia for a total class of 431 graduates. 

Andrews Named 2014-15 Faculty Recognition Award Recipient

Acclaimed pianist Dr. Rick Andrews, professor of music, is the recipient of the 2014-2015 Augustana Student Association Faculty Recognition Award. The award recognizes outstanding teaching and contributions to the Augustana Community by a faculty member.

Senior Uses Letters from WWI for Theses

"Let me Google that" is not a phrase Senior Carolyn Johnson from Goodhue, Minnesota, was able to use while working on her senior and honors theses. Her research has yet to hit the Internet but can be found in the form of letters written during World War I at the Center for Western Studies.

Augustana Raising Funds for Nepal Earthquake Victims

Following the recent earthquakes in Nepal, Augustana's Chapel of Reconciliation, students and staff are raising funds to help support victims of the disaster. All funds raised will be given to Lutheran Disaster Response. 

Senior Finds His Field of Dreams

Ryan Turnquist, a business communication and sport management major from Minnesota, will intern at the Baseball Hall of Fame this summer. 

Two Seniors Present at Regional History Honor Society Conference

Seniors Lauren Evans from Freeport, Illinois, and Carolyn Johnson from Goodhue, Minnesota, presented their senior theses at the Phi Alpha Theta conference at the University of South Dakota this week. Both presentations were well received and Johnson was awarded the Phi Alpha Theta Award for best paper related to women's history.
