Students Collecting Gifts for Teens, Families in Need

In an effort to help those in need this holiday season, Augustana students are collecting gifts for area teens and families. Learn more about the Teen Town program, Christmas Giving trees located throughout campus, and the opportunity to adopt an individual or family for the holiday season.

Discussion to Focus on Climate Change

Gary Hanson, chair of the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission, will examine growing concerns over climate change at a public discussion sponsored by Augie Green, Augustana's environmental club, and the East River Group of the Sierra Club at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5, in GSC Rm. 100.

UPDATE: Gilbert Science Center

Augustana's Gilbert Science Center (GSC) was evacuated on Tuesday, Nov. 26, due to a chemical spill inside the building.

Longtime Augustana Athletic Director Bill Gross Steps Down

After 28 years at the helm of the Augustana athletic department, Director of Athletics Bill Gross announced today he is stepping down and will take a position in Augustana’s Advancement Office as a Major Gifts Officer.

Opera Directed by Lisa Grevlos Earns National Award

Sounds of South Dakota’s 2012 opera production of W. A. Mozart’s “The Magic Flute,” staged and directed by Augustana's Dr. Lisa Grevlos, associate professor of music, was awarded second prize in the National Opera Association’s 2012-13 Professional Opera Production Competition.

Students Act to Support Typhoon Haiyan Relief

Typhoon Haiyan, the year’s most powerful super storm, affected a total of 9.5 million people and displaced at least 600,000 across the Philippines. To offer relief to Haiyan survivors, Augustana Serving and Learning Together (SALT) has made donation jars available in the Huddle, Chapel and Residence Halls. All contributions will be donated to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

Fellow Students Help Senior Build Home

This fall, Augustana senior Sarah Domangue, a single mother of a child with special needs, received a home from Habitat for Humanity, a non-profit organization that helps build and preserve homes for people in need. Members of the Augustana Football Team and Augustana’s Student Council for Exceptional Children (SCEC) also volunteered on the build.
