Augustana advances to the Elite Eight after winning the program's first NCAA Region Championship. On Tuesday, the No. 1 seed Vikings defeated No. 2 seed Northwest Missouri State University 80-78 in front of 3,221 fans at the Sanford Pentagon in the NCAA Central Region Championship.

In the News: Professor Partners With Middle School Teachers to Bring Computer Programming to Youth

Last fall, Augustana's Dr. Drew Alton, associate professor of physics, in partnership with Nancy Weidenbach, Julie Alton, and Leah Howes from Harrisburg North Middle School, received a grant from the South Dakota Space Grant Consortium to bring computer programming, robots and drones to middle school students. On Tuesday, March 15, Harrisburg North eighth graders had their first opportunity to program and fly the drones. KELO-TV reporter Calah Kelley was there to capture the action.

Augustana-Sanford Genetic Counseling Graduate Program Receives National Accreditation

Augustana University and Sanford Health today announced that Augustana’s new master’s program in genetic counseling has received national accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Genetic Counseling (ACGC). The program is recognized as one of only 32 such master’s programs nationwide, and the only one in the Dakotas.
