  • Professor to Fly with The Blue Angels

    As a kid, Dr. Timothy Sorenson always wanted to be an astronaut. He’ll soon get a chance to experience the next best thing when he flies with the U.S. Navy’s famous flight demonstration squadron, the Blue Angels, on Wednesday, July 18, as part of the Sioux Falls Airshow 2012.

  • Augustana Students Conduct Scientific Research Nationwide

    Senior Kelly Wong, a biology and modern foreign languages major from Custer, S.D., is spending her summer as a research intern, studying the effects of neuro-imaging in multiple sclerosis at Massachusetts General Hospital in conjunction with Harvard Medical School. She is one of 69 Augustana students who are conducting scientific and biomedical research and/or internships at facilities throughout the U.S. as part of the College's Summer Research Program.

    A research project by senior biology major Carl Hjelmen, senior bio-chem major Nicole Ensz, and Leah McComas, a biology major from the class of 2012, has been recognized by the Biology Division of The Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR).

    Read the Argus Leader feature on the art collection of Frank and Jan Gibbs, "a treasure trove [that] includes work from local artists and ... vintage Harvey Dunn, Jim Savage, ... Reynold Brown and James Swinnerton — America’s first newspaper comic artist." The "Frank & Jan Gibbs' Collection of American West and Regional Art: A Tribute Exhibition and Sale," is on display through Aug. 25 in the Center for Western Studies.

    "Who is Foreclosing on Whom" and “An Analysis of Home Mortgage Foreclosures In Sioux Falls, S.D.," two research initiatives led by Kaleb Sturm and Andrew Doshier, class of 2012, and economics experts Dr. Reynold Nesiba and Dr. David Sorenson, examine home mortgage foreclosures in Sioux Falls.

  • Newsmaker: 'Augustana Grad Draws on Talent'

    Read the feature by Argus Leader columnist Jill Callison on David Wolter, class of 2004, and winner of the Gold Medal for animation at the 39th annual Student Academy Awards. Wolter's film, "Eyrie," is set in the American frontier and follows a young boy’s efforts to protect his flock of sheep from a persistent eagle.
