As Augustana students make their way through the fall semester, AU professors are engaged in the delivery of an innovative new Core Curriculum, an endeavor University officials say will further distinguish Augustana as a premier institution of higher education.
Augustana University’s Interpreter Education Program (IEP) has received the SVRS® Excellence and Innovation in Interpreter Education Award for the 2015-2016 academic school year. The honor is awarded by Sorenson Communications, LLC, the company that revolutionized Video Relay Service (VRS) communication for Deaf people and will be presented at the upcoming Conference of Interpreter Training, set for Oct. 26-28 in Lexington, Kentucky.
Augustana senior Liz Renner, a biology and Spanish double major from Crooks, South Dakota, was named the 2016 American Star in Agriscience last week at the 89th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis, Indiana. Renner is one of only four students nationwide to receive an American Star award, the FFA's most prestigious honor in recognition of students who demonstrate outstanding agricultural skills and competencies.

Nearly 500 alumni, friends and members of the campus community — including retired faculty members — turned out on Friday, Sept. 23, for the official dedication of the Froiland Science Complex. The event was held nearly 50 years to the day of the dedication of Augustana's former science facility, the Gilbert Science Center.
