Five Honored With Spirit of Augustana Awards

Before a crowd of more than 1,200 people, Augustana College honored five area individuals for their efforts to advance humanitarianism, ministry, innovation, leadership and creativity last night at The Spark, the gala event to celebrate the College’s 150th anniversary.

Augustana PRSSA Honored for Social Media Campaign

The Augustana Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) took home a Student Classics Award at the annual Minnesota Public Relations Society of America (MPRSA) Classics Awards Ceremony. The win came in the New Media/Technology category for the group's social media campaign.

Editorial: 'Augie is Key Part of City'

In an editorial, the Argus Leader, the state's largest newspaper, calls Augustana a "dominant part of Sioux Falls' makeup" and calls the College's reputation "integral to the city's high quality of living and ... one of Sioux Falls' key selling points."

Greenfest to Feature Panel Discussion on Environmentalism

Greenfest, an event organized by Augie Green, will feature lawn games on the Campus Green, bike rides, an environmentally-friendly meal in Morrison Commons and a panel discussion on "How Then Shall We Live: A Well-Rounded Approach to Environmental Living."

In The News: Schmidt Shares Experiences from Rwanda

Monique Schmidt, class of 1998, emphasized the power of service at the Augustana Thought Leader Forum on Friday, April 8. Her presentation, “Reciprocal Transformations: A Discovery of Soul Through Service from Augustana to Africa,” discussed her experiences in Kigali, Rwanda.

Augustana to Offer Online Master’s Degree in Education

The 19-month, non-thesis program is designed for those who hold a bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in education and are eligible for licensure. Applications are due by Friday, May 20. Classes will begin on Monday, June 6.

Show to Feature Songs, Stories in Sign Language

Presented by Augustana Deaf Awareness, "Burst of Sign 2011: In the Spotlight" is a movie and Broadway-themed show featuring songs, skits, jokes, and stories in sign language. The shows will be held Friday and Saturday in Kresge Recital Hall. 

Butler to Speak at Augustana Symposium April 9

Dr. Anne M. Butler's discussion, “Placing Nuns Inside the Women's West: Convent Archives and Academic Research,” will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, in Augustana’s Gilbert Science Center, room 100. The event is free and open to the public.

Alumnus to Debut New Film in Sioux Falls

"You Don't Know Bertha Constantine," a film written and directed by Andrew Kightlinger, class of 2008, and starring Dr. Julia Pachoud Bennett, former assistant professor of Theatre, will make its world premiere at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 15, at the Washington Pavilion.
