The Augustana College Library Associates' Books and More Sale is set for April 14-15 at the Center for Western Studies. The sale will feature books, videos, CDs, DVDs and books and videos for children. Proceeds will support the programming of the Augustana Library Associates.
Dr. Gene Hoyme, class of 1972, chief pediatric medical officer for Sanford Children’s Hospital and nationally known expert on clinical genetics and fetal alcohol syndrome, has received the Joseph W. St. Geme, Jr., Education Award by the Western Society for Pediatric Research.
It's a milestone day for Flat Ole, Flat Stanley’s Norwegian cousin! The one-dimensional world-traveler accepted his 500th friend request on Facebook today. Since his debut in January, Flat has traveled the globe with students, alumni and friends of Augustana College.
Students with the Augustana Dance Marathon took over the Elmen Center on Saturday to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network. The funds will help provide research, treatment, equipment and education for children and families at Sanford Children's Hospital.
Students, alumni, faculty and staff and members of the Sioux Falls community are invited to walk in pilgrimage on Friday, April 15, to celebrate the heritage and gifts of the Augustana experience. Beginning at Old Main, originally built in 1889, the pilgrimage will include poetry, song, sacrament, and scientific experiences.
Meet Mary Oyos, class of 1983, a clinical nurse specialist and diabetes program manager with the Avera McKennan Diabetes Center. Oyos created the Virtual Nurse Project, a new initiative to help schoolchildren in eastern South Dakota manage their Type 1 diabetes.
The Spring Concert will feature the Augustana Band, the Augustana Wind Ensemble, the College/Community Band, student soloists Michael King and Joanna Qualm and a guest performance by the Heartland Handbells. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 8, at the Washington Pavilion.
Augustana will host the official check-in festivities for the 2011 Argus Leader Tour de Kota, beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, at the Morrison Commons. The "Send-off Celebration" will feature live music, food and other activities. Students, alumni, friends, faculty and staff are also invited to join “Team Augustana.”
Jazz Time will feature the Northlanders Jazz Band, the All-City Middle School Jazz Band and special guest Matt Niess, lead trombonist for the U.S. Army Blues Jazz Ensemble. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5.
Seven students will receive scholarships honoring their academic achievements and extracurricular involvement at the 47th annual Friends of Augustana and Augustana Women Scholarship Breakfast on April 9.
