Crosstown Competition Benefits Local Nonprofits

Last week, Augustana students turned a crosstown rivalry into a benefit for those in need.
The "Sioux Falls Showdown," a collaborative effort between Augustana and the University of Sioux Falls, paired students from the two schools together on projects to benefit local nonprofits including:
- Clothing Drive: Both campuses collected 68 pounds of clothing for area children and families in need.
- Service: Students from Augustana and USF served more than 350 adults and children at the Banquet, a Sioux Falls agency that provides free meals.
- Food Drive: "Sioux Falls Showdown" bins placed in Hy-Vee stores throughout the city collected more than 700 pounds of food for Feeding South Dakota, a nonprofit dedicated to providing food to local families in need.
"Thanks to all the students who were involved in planning these events – your hard work will indeed make a difference in the community we all call home," said Dr. Jim Bies, dean of students.
