Augustana Announces Revised Dates for Viking Days 2014

Revised Dates for Viking Days 2014: Sept. 26-28

After surveying alumni and friends following Viking Days 2013, Augustana has announced its decision to move the date of Viking Days 2014 from the previously scheduled Oct. 31-Nov. 2 to Sept. 26-28.

"For all of us at Augie, Viking Days is our homecoming – a time to reconnect with classmates and professors, revisit favorite places on campus, and celebrate treasured memories and traditions. It's also a time to bring our families back to the place that means so much. It goes without saying that coming home again should be a fun and easy decision," the College wrote in emails to alumni and the campus community on Monday. "So, we took it seriously when Viking Days survey respondents outlined a variety of reasons why celebrating homecoming over Halloween weekend would prove difficult including, most importantly, family commitments for those with young children. Current students, too, told us they preferred to celebrate homecoming separately from Halloween."

The revised dates for Viking Days 2014 are: September 26-28.

More details about plans for this weekend, including an All-Class Reunion recognizing the classes ending in 4 and 9, will be announced soon.
