2018 'Friends of Augustana Music' Announced
The Department of Music at Augustana University announced today that the 2018 “Friends of Augustana Music” award recipients are Kyle ’93 and Katie Pederson of Eagan, Minnesota. The award will be presented during the Viking Days “Command Performance” on Saturday, Oct. 20, at the Washington Pavilion.
Kyle is a Minneapolis-based composer, lyricist and pianist, whose work is increasingly heard both in the U.S. and abroad. Kyle has won numerous awards for his choral works and has a Master’s in Education from the University of St. Thomas (St. Paul, Minnesota) and an MFA in Music Composition from the Vermont College of Fine Art. A most recent composition, “We’re Gonna Have a Homecoming” will be premiered during the Command Performance featuring The Augustana Choir.
Katie (Clymer) Pederson earned a BA in English and Studio Art from St. Olaf College (Northfield, MN). Her contemplative and expressive art combines traditional and contemporary styles. Katie is an active volunteer in their children’s activities.
Kyle and Katie bless Augustana through their gifts of time, talent and treasure. Their most recent gift provided the means for the Pederson/Homan Center for Music, our technology-rich center for composition, arranging and creativity. The center has the latest in electronic keyboards, computers, and recording/production capabilities and is used by all majors as well as for piano study and music theory.
