Augustana University Economics Club Hosts Sioux Falls Market Outlook Discussion

Michael Bender, a principal partner at Bender Commercial Real Estate Services, presents at the Sioux Falls 2016 Market Outlook on Thursday, April 8. The event was organized by the Augustana University Economics Club.

The Augustana University Economics Club hosted the Sioux Falls 2016 Market Outlook on Thursday, a discussion featuring analysis by local commercial real estate experts on municipal and state economies, along with a broader examination of U.S. economy.

The discussion was led by Michael Bender and Nick Gustafson '04, principal partners at Bender Commercial Real Estate Services.

In Sioux Falls, Bender said, the economic outlook is good.

Employment growth within the city is at a 19-year high, Bender said, with approximately 3,700 new jobs added last year alone. Leading the employment growth were the health care and construction services industries.

He said Sioux Falls also saw more than $676 million in construction projects last year – far more than other cities throughout the region, including Rapid City, which recorded $219 million in construction projects last year; Fargo, North Dakota, at $500 million in construction; and Rochester, Minnesota, at $571 million in construction last year.
