Nikki Troxclair Named VP of Strategic Communications and Marketing

Augustana has announced Nikki Troxclair as AU’s new vice president of strategic communications and marketing. She will lead the University’s public relations, marketing, editorial, web communications and central services areas for Augustana.

Troxclair is an award-winning marketing communications professional with more than 20 years of experience in the fields of higher education, health care and engineering. She most recently served as associate vice president for marketing & communications at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).

“We’re excited for the leadership and strategic expertise Nikki brings to Augustana,” said Augustana President Stephanie Herseth Sandlin. “As we considered the specific needs of the University, her combination of public relations and marketing expertise in both higher education and the private sector will be highly beneficial, now and into the future."

Troxclair’s previous higher education experience includes working for the University of South Carolina system, the Georgia Institute of Technology, and the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She also served as marketing and communications director for the Andrews Institute for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Gulf Breeze, Florida, and LKPB Engineers in Minneapolis.

A Saint Paul, Minnesota, native, Troxclair earned a Bachelor of Arts in journalism from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, and a Master of Arts in Urban Leadership & Public Policy from UNLV. She is accredited in public relations from the Public Relations Society of America, holds a LEED AP designation from the United States Green Building Council, and is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society.

In addition to her professional experience, Troxclair has received multiple awards over the course of her career. Honors include Gold and Bronze awards from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, a Gold Award from the University Professional & Continuing Education Association (UPCEA), an Image and Judges’ Awards from the Florida Public Relations Association, and a Silver Addy Award from the Advertising Federation of America. She has also held various community and organizational leadership positions in Nevada, Minnesota, Georgia and Florida.
