Payne Named New Alumni Association Director
Jackie Payne has been chosen to lead the Augustana University Alumni Association as its new director. She replaces Adrienne McKeown '00, who served in this capacity for two years.
Most recently, Payne has served as director of development, where she was responsible for raising private support for the student, faculty and programming needs of AU and for identifying ways to build and foster strong connections between alumni and friends and Augustana.
Payne has more than 20 years of experience in higher education, executive relationship management and sales. Originally from Luverne, Minnesota, she attended Augustana from 1993 to 1995 and earned her bachelor’s degree from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. As a student at Augustana, Payne was involved in Viking Varieties, outreach ministry, intramurals and was a proud member of the Bergsaker Hall third-floor "Bergers."
Before coming to Augustana, she served as an account executive for Midcontinent Communications. Prior to that, she spent a decade with Wells Fargo Education Financial Services and also worked as an Admission counselor for Concordia.
“Jackie is well-suited for this important role. Her experience in relationship building and love of Augie, coupled with her charismatic personality and genuine interest in the lives of others will be immensely valuable,” said Pam Homan, vice president for Advancement. “We’re thrilled to have her serve in this new capacity on our team.”
In addition to her professional experience, Payne is an active civic volunteer. She currently serves on the Nordland Heritage Foundation Board and Our Savior's Lutheran Church Youth Board, has played an active role with the Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce, the Sales and Marketing Executives and Junior Achievement. She is a past chair of the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Executive Leadership Team, was a 10-year member of the South Sioux Kiwanis Club, served on the board of directors for Southeastern Behavioral, and is a graduate of Leadership Sioux Falls.
Central to Payne’s new role at Augustana will be providing leadership to the University's Alumni and GOLD councils, fundraising and planning alumni engagement activities.
Payne and her husband, Tory, reside in Sioux Falls with their four boys, Dexter, Mason, Jaden and Rylan.
